| Judy Fennell "I'm a 63 year old self-funded lady retiree. My GP recommended a personal trainer and some weights to strengthen bones and to add bone density. I am a regular bush-walker, tennis player and occasionally play golf. Despite all this activity I knew I wasn't fit and I certainly knew I wasn't strong. Since starting out with Oxygen Personal Fitness in November I have noticed some encouraging changes. The start has been slow but progressive as I have some arthritic joints to care for.
I am more conscious of my posture, and it's improving. I can get out of a lounge chair without pushing with my arms. I can get down and up from a squatting position without the aid of pushing with my hands from the ground - very handy when bush-walking!
I am sleeping better and my wriggly leg syndrome has improved. I can lift a heavy kettle with one hand instead of two. I can unscrew lids of jars better. My aerobic fitness has improved from extreme struggle at first to now managing bike and cross training machine quite well.
Also my hips are aching less often at night. I have early onset osteo in both hips and after LONG bush walks, or semi-long pavement walks they mostly ache at night. I have noticed a vast improvement". |  | Bill Jackson "I started coming to Oxygen about 2 years ago primarily to have remedial massage on my lower back and left hip. After about six months of twice weekly massage, Tricia suggested I would benefit from weight training to improve muscle tone and strength. A physician I saw at the time put it more bluntly --" you're fat! “I knew he was correct; after all, I had spent a year swimming and walking but I hadn't lost a kilo.
I started seeing Phil twice a week. It probably took about three months to see some change. But once the fat started to disappear it really started to happen. And, of course, gave me extra incentive.
I now train three times per week - an hour of cardio, an hour of weights with Phil and twice per week I finish with a massage from Tricia or Amanda. Within 18 months, I lost 20 kgs. Just as important was the improvement in muscle tone, flexibility and self image. My old jeans now fit me plus I have had to buy new clothes. I think I can cope better with stress and I don't get physically as fatigued as I once did. No more sore back from sitting at a desk.
I have had great support from my wife who reduced the portions we eat, the amount of carbs and fat in our diet ( I don't use butter except on toast) and I reduced my alcohol from 1/2 bottle of red wine per night to alcohol only on the weekend.
I enjoy coming to Oxygen - the whole place is friendly and it's not at all threatening or intimidating - Phil, Nik and the team are really encouraging and supportive. I like the contact with other people who have similar aims to me.
So, if you can get through the first 3 months, you can do it too!"

"I've been a regular gym goer since I was 18, aerobics classes were the go for me in the early days. The styles have changed over time and I’ve tried most of the newer programs, BodyPump, BodyCombat, Body this and Body that. Now days I've found a mix of weight training and boxing with a personal trainer plus regular walking and yoga classes are the right fit for me.
I've been training at Oxygen for 3 years now, and really do prefer the smaller gym layouts than the larger corporate style franchises. I started off with a regular PT session once a week and now I'm there twice a week. Even through the winter months, as tempting as it is just go home and pour a glass of red and don the ugg boots, I've stuck with it and feel so much better for doing so.
Most of you know Nik and it’s been through his support, knowledge and patience (I have a tendency to whine during some sessions!) I've gained a good right hook and have achieved some of my fitness goals, I can do full-length push-ups now and I feel stronger both physically and mentally. I do have another goal on the horizon, chin ups!! (still struggling with this one). I really do look forward to each PT session, training should be prioritised (write it in your diary!!) and above all be fun. I have a great work out twice a week at Oxygen but also a good laugh - Nik is never short on a story to tell!

In July 2005 I weighed 67kgs and was a size 10 / 12. I set myself a goal that by the time my youngest was about 12 months old (October '05) I would weigh 58kgs and fit into my pre-children clothing. A big ask! I signed up to the Oxygen Personal Fitness Trim and Tone Program with the promise of assistance to lose body fat, gain strength and tone. Again, a big ask.
Under the expert guidance of Phil, Chris and the Oxygen Team, I sweated, pushed, lifted, walk and trained 2 - 3 times a week in the early hours of the morning. After 6 weeks I had lost 27cm from all areas of my body and 7kgs in weight. At 12 weeks, I had lost a further 27cm and a fat loss of 5kgs. I now weigh 55kgs and am a size 6 - 8. Not only do I fit into my pre-wedding clothes, I have a whole new wardrobe in a small size.
Without the Oxygen Team, I could not have achieved my personal fitness and weight loss goals. Phil, Chris and the Team motivated, encouraged and supported me to train regularly, efficiently and ultimately productively. I felt fully supported throughout the process and believe that the Oxygen Team have a true desire to see their members reach their personal fitness goals.
